Project Manager and Research Assistant
Gustavo is based in São Paulo, Brazil as part of PPP’s sister organisation People’s Palace Projects do Brasil.
Gustavo has an Msc in International Strategic Studies and is currently pursuing a PhD in International Political Economy. He has eleven years’ experience in project management and development of applied research methodologies. During this period, he has successfuly worked with several federal and local organisations, both public and private. Initially focusing in the study of public administration and policies as a whole, he has directed his efforts to the study of cultural and creative policies since 2015.
Gustavo was project coordinator to the Brazilian federal public administration branch of research at the Center for International Studies on Government (CEGOV) from 2009 to 2015. He is co-founder of the Centre for Studies in Creative Economy and Culture (NECCULT), where he developed projects on the Creative Economy and Culture economic measurement methodologies in Brazil with the Ministry of Culture between 2015 and 2019, also collaborating on the Relative Values project with PPP. He has also worked as a freelance researcher in the development of measurement methodologies in the Creative and Cultural Industries to organisations such as the British Council Brasil, Fundação Itaú Cultural, and the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).
He joined PPPdoBrasil’s team in October 2020 as a Project and Research Manager for the Counting Culture project website, where he produced and managed the Cultural Value website and the research papers published there. In 2021, he took on a longer-term role as PPPdoBrasil’s part-time Project manager and Research Assistant within the Cultural Value research strand of PPP’s Brazil-UK work, including projects such as Roots of Resilience and Far Apart UK, that explore the different types of value produced by culture.
