Dr. Suzy Willson is Artistic Director of acclaimed theatre company Clod Ensemble and creator of their Performing Medicine programme. She took her PhD in the Drama Department at Queen Mary University of London, supervised by Paul Heritage, and is Honorary Professor at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Suzy has been pioneering the use of arts in healthcare education for over 20 years working with a range of medical schools, higher education institutions and NHS Trusts, as well as curating public events with leading cultural venues across the UK.  Between 2001 – 2004 she was Arts and Humanities Research Council Fellow at Queen Mary.

Suzy is a regular contributor to journals and books on both performance and medicine – with articles in The Guardian, The Lancet, Performance Research, Routledge and Methuen edited collections, and appearances on BBC Radio, More4 News and Sky Sports. With Clod Ensemble she has directed several productions which draw on medical themes including An Anatomie in Four Quarters and Under Glass (both commissioned by Sadler’s Wells).
