As part of the London 2012 Festival, this summer saw the Rio Occupation London take place over 30 epic days from 6th July to 5th August with 30 groundbreaking Rio artists occupying more than 50 spaces across London. The artists showed more than 250 works of art and performance for over 37,000 people. Thank you for helping us making the Occupation a great success!

It was enormous fun and we were overwhelmed by the generosity of collaborators, partners and artists. In fact, we learnt huge amounts and enjoyed ourselves so much, that Rio Occupation London has become the beginning of a new PPP story. A return invasion is planned for April 2013, when Rio de Janeiro is inviting London artists to occupy their city as they start their journey to the Olympics in 2016.

This short film, by Remi Stewart, provides an overview of our unforgettable summer: Rio Occupation London

Rio Occupation London Commissioned by Rio de Janeiro’s State Culture Secretariat. Executive Produced by People’s Palace Projects. Co-produced by BAC. Sponsored by Petrobras. It is part of the British Council Transform programme.
