Poppy is a creative producer and researcher with over 12 years’ experience producing contemporary art, performance and practice-based research projects in the UK, East Africa and Latin America. Passionate about the relationship between public policy, practice and research, in 2020 Poppy completed her PhD with Royal Holloway, University of London, which focused on the role of the producer, establishing cross-sector partnerships with creatives and exploring how atmospheres can offer a way of reimagining the role of art and performance in East Africa.
Poppy originally worked with PPP from 2010 to 2014, by which time she was our General and Projects Manager. Her career since then has taken her from the UK to Uganda, where for a number of years she produced Nyege Nyege International Music Festival, and co-founded the pop-up artist residency programme East African Soul Train. In 2020 Poppy returned to PPP in a new role supporting our research, including senior project management, leading on our research applications and developing new areas of research with collaborators in East Africa.
