Director, Museum of Colour

Samenua is the founder of Museum of Colour and joined the PPP staff part-time from February 2019 after raising the grant for its pilot exhibition, People of Letters.  Since then, MoC has constituted as a Community Interest Company and delivered four further exhibitions under Samenua’s direction, all co-produced with PPP which continues to incubate the developing company.

Samenua is a writer, coach and culture management consultant. She started her career in theatre and has worked with Nottingham Playhouse, the National Theatre and Ambassadors Theatre Group as well as in television, community arts and heritage. As a cross-artform producer, Samenua has experience of delivering multi-million pound programmes and has fed into national cultural policy; set up and run a local authority culture service; and lectured. She was a 2008/09 Clore Fellow and was awarded an OBE for Services to the Arts in the 2018 New Year’s Honours List.  She is also a PPP Associate and an Artist Fellow of the Queen Mary University of London Drama Department.
