The murder of indigenous people and activists has become endemic in Latin America but the deaths of Bruno and Dom strike a particular and profound chord for all of us at PPP.
The warriors of FUNAI have lost a colleague who represents the best of what Brazil’s federal indigenous agency is. Bruno Pereira fought to maintain the integrity, dignity and independence of indigenous peoples in Brazil.
PPP unites with those that still believe in fighting the causes that brought Bruno to a torturous death.
Dom Philips was barbarously assassinated for being a journalist who dared to tell the story of the destructive forces that have been unleashed in the Amazon.
PPP will redouble the efforts to tell these stories in collaboration with our indigenous partners – and dedicate our future work to the memory of Bruno and Dom.
